A Garden Wedding at Gran Villa Rosa
A garden wedding at Gran Villa Rosa begins in a series of quiet, private moments: Ophelie’s gown catching the light in front of a mirror, the wedding invitation laid out with its hand-lettered detail, before the garden itself opens up under a floral arch built for the ceremony. Guests took their seats among Gran Villa Rosa’s tiered stone terraces as Ophelie walked toward Loris, and the vows that followed closed with confetti thrown into the afternoon light and a first kiss as a married couple.
The reception opened with its own grand entrance: Ophelie and Loris coming down one of the villa’s sweeping staircases to applause, before a champagne tower was poured glass by glass to open the toasts. Dinner sat under strings of light on the terrace, a grazing table drawing guests in through the evening, and as night fell the party moved down toward the pool, where a live band and, later, a saxophonist kept the floor full until the couple cut into a heart-shaped cake and closed the night with a sparkler-lit exit.
Gran Villa Rosa: a private estate near Sitges
Gran Villa Rosa traces its roots to a fifteenth-century Catalan farmhouse, rebuilt at the turn of the twentieth century into a neo-Mudejar villa for a local merchant family: horseshoe arches, hand-painted tilework and carved wooden ceilings run through a series of salons that still carry that original, unhurried grandeur. Just outside Sitges and around thirty minutes from Barcelona, the estate is rented to a single wedding party at a time, with its own chapel, a tiered stone garden built around a fountain, and a heated pool framed by palms for the evening.
That exclusivity is what makes Gran Villa Rosa work so well for a full wedding weekend: a ceremony in the garden by day gives way, without anyone having to travel anywhere, to a reception around the pool after dark, with the villa’s own wine cellar on hand as a backup room if the weather turns.
As a Wedding Planner, Vanessa’s role for Ophelie and Loris was to plan a day that used every part of the estate deliberately, so the garden ceremony, the staircase entrance and the poolside party each kept their own atmosphere across the day. It’s the kind of layered, full-weekend celebration her destination weddings service is built around.
If you liked the idea of a private estate held for just one wedding at a time, you might also enjoy this private estate wedding with floral decor and magical lighting, another celebration built around its own grounds after dark.
