The weddings here were planned across Catalonia and, now and then, further afield: in Barcelona itself, along the Costa Brava, and at estates and castles inland. Where is the best place to get married in Spain?
It depends mostly on what your guests do on the days either side. Barcelona works when people want a city to walk around, and a venue like Casa Fuster puts the ceremony close to where everyone is staying. The Costa Brava, an hour or so north, has the pine cliffs and the clear water, and it suits a whole weekend better than a single afternoon.
Inland is different again. Castell de Sant Marçal near Sant Cugat and Castell de Caramany in the Empordà sit among vineyards with very little else nearby, which some couples want and others do not. How do you plan a wedding in Spain from abroad?
Most of it happens before anyone flies out. Venue visits, tastings and fittings get grouped into one or two trips, and the rest is handled remotely. Two things tend to catch couples out. The legal side is separate from the ceremony you actually plan, and for a symbolic ceremony the paperwork usually gets done at home before anyone travels; this guide goes through what that means for international couples.
